Current Obsessions!

I know, I know, I've been a little bit MIA. I apologize. Going out of town messes with my schedule, and I wasn't able to get any homework done over break, so I had to do it all Sunday and Monday. I'm sorry!
But I'm back now, and I'm blogging about my latest obsessions! Are you ready?

1.) PaperMate Clearpoint Mechanical Pencils

Seriously, I love these things. Mine are pink, purple and green and I'm addicted. I'm never going back to real pencils ever again.
 2.) Nike Tempo Track Shorts

I got this pair the other day for 15% off and I can't wait for spring! They're so comfy and flattering and I refuse to wear any other kind of running shorts anymore. They are a bit pricey, though, so I might have to start saving my pennies.
 Nike Tempo Track Shorts HEAVEN:

This is Pearls, Curls and a Southern Girl's collection... Swoon.
3.) Starbucks! I love their Caramel Apple Spice and Pumpkin Spice Latte. But the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha is my favorite...YUM!
Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha
And I also love their red Christmas cups!! But I couldn't find a picture... However, I did find a picture of their Vanilla Bean Scones, and for those of you who know me, they hold a special place in my heart thanks to one of the little boys that I babysit.

Um, yum!
The Blueberry Streusel Muffin will always be my favorite, though.
Okay, so as you can see, I could do a whole post on Starbucks, but on to number 5.

5.) Monograms!
I'm trying to talk myself out of ordering monogrammed Croakies from Marley Lilly, since I still have a little while before I have to worry about losing my sunglasses, but I am almost definitely going to get a few of my friends monogrammed scarves from them for Christmas. Shhh!

6.) Minnetonka Kilty Moccasins (Dusty Brown)
Nordstrom has a great price, too! Only $38.95, when usually they're about $44.99.
Check out what the College Prepster did to hers over Thanksgiving Break:

I thought it was cool.
Are you bored yet? Oh, good, because I have a couple more things. (I have a high obsession rate this week, I guess...)

7.) Patagonia
Those of y'all who know my parents know that they're pretty outdoorsy. My dad is Mr. BoyScout, and goes camping pretty much every other weekend (without me and my mom, of course). And my mom loves to hike. We take at least one outdoor-hiking family vacation every year and it's buckets of fun. But anyway, so my parents were Patagonia fans long before it was trendy, and now I've fallen in love with them too! Check it out; it all looks so warm and fuzzy.

Last one, 8.) Life Savers
So much more attractive than chomping on gum, I love the Cherry and the Wint-O-Green. The Butter Rum was my favorite when I was little, though.

That's all, folks! Have a terrific Tuesday!

Skirts!

I love skirts for winter! I almost feel more comfortable in a skirt and tights than in pants. Don't know why, just do.

Here are a few of my favorite skirts for fall/winter; I haven't actually purchased any of them yet, but I plan to. Here we go!

Cord Atlee skirt
With a white turtleneck, navy tights, a cute scarf and some brown boots? Perfection.

Felted wool mini
Black tights, black flats, pink pullover? Lovin' it.

You knew you'd see this one again. I think I'm in love. For this skirt, I'm thinking grey tights, white long sleeve tee (tucked in, of course), long gold necklaces, and black boots.

This is another one that you've seen before, but I can't get enough. With a black turtleneck, black boots, and some red accessories, I think it'd be perfect for a holiday party.

I don't know if I personally would wear this one, but I think it's cute. With black or white on top, maybe gray or black tights and flats, it'd be very cute.

Today I'm off to watch BB run in the XC regional championships. He runs at noon and is trying to run sub 16:30... A huge goal, considering he'll have to shave 23 seconds off his Personal Record.

Happy Saturday!

Black Friday, anyone?

Today is probably one of my favorite days of the year. However, my mom is NOT a hardcore shopper, or really a shopper of any kind, so I've never gotten the real Black Friday experience. This year will not be an exception.

Instead of waiting in line for the best deals of the year, I will be in the car on the way to a Cross Country meet to watch BB run. Whoop-dee-freakin'-doo.

But, in honor of those of you more fortunate than I, I've decided to showcase the top five items that I'd be most likely to purchase on Black Friday. Only if they were on mega-sale, of course. (Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?)

1.) Hunter Original Gloss Wellingtons (Black)

New Wayfarer
2.) Ray-Ban New Wayfarer Sunglasses (Tortoise)

9456803 Angle Large
3.) Nikon D3000 SLR Digital Camera

4.) Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals (White)

Highland puffer vest
5.) J. Crew Highland Puffer Vest (Ivory)

If you're going out shopping, good luck!

ONE MORE DAY!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! I am so excited to see my family and give thanks for all that I've been given.

Today I received a lovely surprise before I left for my grandma's house... One of my favorite college kids stopped by on her way home to say hello. It was so good to see her and I'm so sorry that I won't be home to spend more time with her.

We left the house at 2:15 and arrived at my grandma's around 5:45ish. We had a lovely family dinner with my aunt and uncle and cousins and a couple of us girls watched Valentine's Day. SO CUTE!

Everyone's really excited about tomorrow; we're going to my great aunt and uncle's house, about an hour from here, to celebrate with even more aunts and uncles and cousins.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends!

I want to go to Hogwarts!

Like, seriously. As I mentioned last Friday, I went and saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Sunday. Let me just say that it was AMAZING! Now, I must just add that I am a true fan, and therefore got a little upset that the 6th movie deviated a lot from the book. This one didn't have that problem. Perhaps it's because they split it into two parts to accommodate for more details, but it was borderline perfect. I mean, obviously, there were a few minor things left out, but nothing that I noticed until I was already out of the theater. I can't wait until part 2 comes out!

Okay, so here are the three things that make me want a Hogwarts letter:

Harry, Ron and Hermione, of course!

Hogwart's Confession #1: I sort of have a crush on Tom Felton... You know, Draco Malfoy. Scandalous, I know. He's SO talented!

Hogwart's Confession #2: Hermione Granger/Emma Watson is my idol. I definitely want to be just like her when I grow up.

Hogwart's Confession #6: This is my new favorite webpage.
 Hogwart's Confession #6.5: I can't pick a favorite.

Hogwart's Confession #7: Whenever I hear someone say "World Cup", the first thing that comes to my mind isn't soccer.

Hogwart's Confession #8: I cried on my 11th birthday when I didn't get a letter from Hogwarts.

Falling in love with Love 21

Hello there! I apologize profusely for my recent absence from the blogging circuit... It's just been a crazy couple of days!

This weekend was nice, I got a lot of work done (not as much as I should've, but a lot all the same) and spent some quality time with my family.
Today, I just wanted to share with you a little gem that I found while searching for tights on Forever21.com the other day... You ready?

Well, it's called Love 21,and it's practically my own personal Mecca. You know those times when you go into Forever 21 hoping to find, oh I don't know, a cute sweater dress or a nice skirt to wear to a party and all you can seem to find is clubwear, leather pants and stripper heels? Not anymore.

Ladies, here's what Forever 21 has to say about Love:
"Love 21 offers a more sophisticated, modest fit than Forever 21."
HALLELUJAH! Preppy girls everywhere, I'm sure, are rejoicing with me as I look through page after page of appropriate, yet still youthful clothing. I LOVE IT!

Here are a several pieces that I may just have to add to my closet ASAP:

Adorable, right? Okay, so the colors are a little drab on a lot of their stuff, but that's nothing that a bright top and a great pair of shoes can't fix.

Some of the tops even looked a bit J. Crew-ish to me... You think?

The tops didn't catch my eye as much as the skirts and dresses did, but some of them are definitely cute. I think I might have to head over to Forever 21 and check it out... Or, just order online. That second skirt would be perfect for a holiday party!

So, ladies, let's review: appropriate, [borderline] school-dress-code-compliant, adorable clothing at the oh-so-low prices that Forever 21 has become famous for. What's not to love??

Happy shopping!

Friday Five! (a little late)

Please excuse my late post... I had HUGE Biology test today and couple of significant quizzes that I needed to study for last night, so I didn't get my Friday Five post done. But, never fear! I'm here now. And without further ado, I present my Top Five Favorite Things About November.

1.) CORDUROYS! I love when it gets cold enough to break out the cords (usually sometime in November), and I actually just wore this particular pair from J. Crew today!

2.) Thanksgiving, duh! We're officially six days away! I've always loved Thanksgiving because our family and my mom's two brothers and their families and my grandmother and her two brothers and their families all get together to celebrate. It's a magical day filled with love, laughter, and most importantly, FANTASTIC COOKING. I can't wait!
3.) The colors of the trees. Yeah, I suppose this is really a characteristic of Fall in general, but I've found, at least around here, that the leaves are especially vibrant and beautiful come November.

4.) Okay, this one's a weird one, I know, but sweet potatoes. November is peak sweet potato season! Maybe it's my Southern roots, or just some weird quirk, but I honestly believe that these here things are magical. I mean, just listen to what Wikipedia has to say about them: "Besides simple starches, sweet potatoes are rich in complex carbohyrates, dietary fiber, beta carotene (a vitamin A equivalent nutrient), vitamin C, and vitamin B6. In 1992, the Center for Science in the Public Interest compared the nutritional value of sweet potatoes to other vegetables. Considering fiber content, complex carbohyrdates, protein, vitamins A and C, iron, and calcium, the sweet potato ranked highest in nutritional value. According to these criteria, sweet potatoes earned 184 points, 100 points over the next on the list, the common potato." I mean, you can't get any better than that. My personal favorite way to slice them up, toss them in some salt, pepper and olive oil and bake them in the oven. Yum, sweet potato french fries.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Movie Poster
5.) November 19, 2010 (A.K.A. TODAY!) I'm so excited to see the new Harry Potter movie!! BB got to go at midnight last night because he didn't have school today and I am so jealous. I think the plan is to go with Mom and Little Brother Sunday and I CAN'T WAIT. I was SO mad that I didn't get to go at midnight, but hey, it's the same movie regardless of when you see it, right? That's what I keep telling myself...

Have a great weekend!
